Limonaia " La Malora "

Gargnano

The lemon garden (“Limonaia”) La Malora is located in Gargnano, on the western coast of Lake Garda. It is an old structure dating back to the sixteenth century and is used for the cultivation of lemons. It is unique in its kind: unlike the surrounding lemon gardens, now mostly abandoned or re-developed as homes, La Malora is still a productive limonaia, perfectly preserved and available for visits. This is thanks to the commitment and passion of the owner Giuseppe Gandossi and his son Fabio.

Villa Bettoni

Gargnano

A splendid Villa in the heart of Lake Garda A monumental garden, the only one of its kind in the whole of Lombardy, that embraces a most imposing and gracious villa – all of which set like a jewel among the peaks of the mountains and the prettiest shore of Lake Garda. This is the historic home of the counts Bettoni, in Bogliaco, where the family’s descendants still live. In the 18th century, with the family’s fortune firmly established, to the point where they enjoyed the privilege of hosting the Emperor Josef II of Hapsburg during his visit to Limone sul Garda, the sixteen Bettoni brothers, who were about to receive the title of counts from the House of Austria, decided to build themselves a house “worthy of representing them in the world”.

Sanctuary of Montecastello

Tignale

(15 km) Tignale’s most famous monument is the Santuario di Montecastello, which is just under the summit of Monte Castello, perched on a limestone crag overlooking the lake. Recently restored, the sanctuary is one of the most esteemed and renowned sacred places of Lake Garda, especially for the historical events of which it played a major part, and its architectural and artistic heritage and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

S. Valentino hermitage

Gargnano

Recently restored, this little church was built as a votive offering after a plague in the 1600s. It is now a destination for strolls on the mule track which runs from Sasso to S. Valentino, at 700 m. on the sea level, and spots a wonderful sight on the lake.

Botanical Garten A. Heller

Gardone Riviera

(12 km) - Created in 1912 by Arthur Hruska, a medical dentist in the court of the Tsar, the “Hruska” botanical garden has an astounding number of rare plants. In 1988, the artist Andrè Heller bought the land and adjoining villa, intending to create a centre of ecological conscience. The park also contains contemporary sculptures by renowned artists.

Gargnano

Piccolo paese sul Lago di Garda

Gargnano is a large municipality consisting of 13 hamlets. You could call it a town sandwiched between two lakes. The main town and the hamlets of Villa and Bogliaco are on the shores of Lake Garda, and the Gargnano hinterland rises gradually up to Lake Valvestino, a fiord set between the Valvestino mountains.

The Garda Lake island

San Felice del Benaco

The Island is situated on the Brescian side of Lake Garda, a short distance from San Felice del Benaco.

Today it owes its fascination to the extraordinary Venetian neo-Gothic style villa, designed by the architect Luigi Rovelli at the beginning of the 20th century; an imposing harmonious building, rich in surprising architectonic details. Below, the terraces and Italian gardens slope down to the lake. All around the vegetation is luxuriant and intact, rich in local, exotic plants, rare essences and unique flowers.
